From Kuala Lumpur you either you have to take another flight or the same flight will reach Denpasar when you will purchase a ticket, you do not have to purchase 2 different tickets, a single ticket is for both the journeys if you need to take 2 separate flights, details will be in a single ticket if, there is same flight then no question. Flight fare of Kolkata to Bali (Denpasar) approximately around Rupees 14K to 15K per head, but if you purchase ticket long before of journey date and I must say, few days in a week, no certain days on these days the flight fare comes down to around 8K to 9K for an instance, I had purchased 4months before of the journey date and the amount was 7.5K per head. Anyway, you should plan 6 months in advance and purchase the ticket at that time obviously with the return ticket, which means purchase round trip tickets.
I think within 9K to 9.5K per head from Kolkata to Kuala Lumpur it takes 3.5hrs - 4hrs you may have to wait there for around 3-4 hrs as you will have to reach Denpasar boarding the next flight from Kulala Lumpur to Denpasar, it takes maximum 3hrs almost all the flights take off from Kolkata airport at night. Around 12am, 12.50am or 1:00am, of course, you will try to fulfill all the formalities in the airport on time accordingly, maximum flights are from Air Asia. As you are landing in Kuala Lumpur if the stay time in Kuala Lumpur is long more than 5 to 6 hours then you can think of getting out of the airport if the stay time is as less as 3hrs then do not think of it. and, if you want to leave Kuala Lumpur airport for a while to stroll around the city then you have to get Transit Visa you must take it from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) airport.
Required Transit Visa
Transit Visa may be needed to hang around the city if you plan to leave the airport, hang around the city for a few hours, and back to the airport. I will suggest not to leave the airport. take rest there, eat. It is a large airport, many things to view many things to do, I mean all are shopping stalls. Anyhow, you can easily spend the time strolling around the stalls. No, We do not need Visa to visit Indonesia for Indian citizens, and citizens of other 140 countries do not need to have Visa to visit Indonesia.
Indonesia is a Visa-free country for Indians nor free visas but a Visa-free country for us. The headache of the visa is gone now. You just land at the airport, go to the immigration desk, hand over the filled up immigration form, show passport and all is done just before leaving the airport you will have to fill up another form a declaration form what you need to declare! who are with you, means the number of family members traveling with you how much currency you are carrying, approx counting, and for how many days you will be there that's all nothing serious just hand over just before leaving the airport.
Bali Currency
So, we need not think about visa, no extra cost for a visa because we are Indians because, a visa is not required. Now, I am coming to the point of Currency rate Indonesian currency is called Indonesian Rupiah and much cheaper than Indian currency most of us take it wrongly on the current date. 1 Indian Rupee 1 INR (Indian Rupee) is equal to 195 points something IDR(Indonesian Rupiah) means, you will get 195 IDR if you give 1 INR we do the mistake here, why? we think, wow, 195 IDR? so much. Things must be cheaper there. No, only currency value is low there, but neither the price of things is cheaper than India nor expensive. It is good to install a currency converter app in mobile, it will help you calculate instantly.
Currency Exchange
How will you exchange the currency? to find 'Indian Rupee to IDR' currency exchange option is difficult around Kolkata one or two banks may help you to convert INR to IDR but the exchange rate will disappoint you. So, I would like to suggest you that you should carry USD- American Dollar means, from Kolkata, as per your budget then convert INR to USD and carry the USD to Indonesia, then convert those USDs to IDR there but always keep in mind that do not convert in the airport because the exchange rate is always higher in an airport means what price you will get outside for IDR in the airport you will get much lower price therefore and obviously how you will convert as much as you will need.
For coming 3-4 days or for 7-8 days calculate how much IDR you will need to spend those days, convert that much USD into IDR avoid to convert all the USDs you carry at once because if you convert all the USDs in IDR you will have to convert the extra IDR in USD, you will lose few bucks there and again those USDs will have to be converted to INR in India again the loss of few bucks, therefore avoid that type of conversion process.
You should convert USD to IDR in small amounts as much as needed, where do you exchange the currency there? as said before, do not exchange at the airport, hoping you will stay at Kuta in Bali. In Bali, there are a number of small currency exchange shops available in the Kuta bazaar area. You must stroll about most of the exchange shops to find the best rate because all the exchange shops will not give the same price, few will give 13800 IDR for 1USD, few 13400 and few may give 13300 IDR find out the shop giving best rate but I have told you something here if you find, anywhere, any currency exchange shop is giving you much more price than other shops you have found few shops are giving, 13100 IDR, few 13200IDR and few 13300IDR but a certain shop is giving you 13900IDR or suppose 14000IDR then you should not step forward toward there must be a scam. You will be cheated, therefore, if you get somewhere in Kuta, the price of USD 13400IDR then in the airport the price must be only 13000IDR means 400IDR less, much less so, you go directly to the hotel from the airport after reaching or on the way you can find out the price in several currency exchange shops.
Hotel Bookings
I am suggesting you book a cheaper hotel. Selecting a type of hotel is completely depending upon your choice. I only say then you are going to book from here, few hotels may ask for a 1day booking charge as an advance if you book online and for some hotels you can pay in cash at the property. I will suggest taking the second option. Pay at the hotel most of the hotels offers free cancellation if you book online. Good advice I will give you that avoid booking hotels through third-party agents or websites, contact directly to the selected hotel, google it to find the phone number or email of the selected hotel, and contact them directly. If they ask for advance pay it using Swift Code. I did the same what price I had got online, after contacting them the price was lowered.
Travel Insurance
When you are going to make foreign travel do not forget to take travel insurance. There are so many private or public sectors available here in India, who give travel insurance. Travel insurance means that if you are going to travel if our luggage is lost, if you fall ill or if any bad thing happens to you there will be no extra cost will be deducted from your pocket because you are carrying travel insurance as security, just because I am discussing Bali, that is why I am mentioning Bali, but before any foreign trip does not forget to take travel insurance. I am telling you, it does not cost much to take travel insurance as per couple for 10days it will cost Rs.1300 to Rs.1400 depending on the region.
If you are going to southeast Asia, North Asia or Europe premium cost depends on it. Bali is in southeast Asia and the cost will be Rs.1300 to Rs.1500 for 10 days per couple and what you get in return almost 1lakh USD coverage 1Lakh USD means as on current date about Rs.70lakh to Rs.75lakh it includes hospitalization, accidental benefits lost of luggage and many more. For this little amount Rs.1400 or Rs.1500 avoiding this security, the option is just stupidity. I am mentioning the point of Travel Insurance as the last point but this one of the most important things for making a foreign tour plan. I hope this whole article will help you out in making a tour plan to Bali and you might have got answers to many questions. If you have any more questions ask me in the comment section. I will surely answer. I will write many articles on travel tips and guides.
